We purchased Glastar N97BM back in 2014 near Madison, Wisconsin as a replacement for our 2005 Flight Design CTsw. We wanted a plane that was relatively simple, had good baggage capacity, and most importantly: IFR capability.
Since we’ve owned it, we’ve upgraded the GPS to an Avidyne IFD540, replaced the transponder to be ADS-B 2020 compliant, installed a Dynon D2 Pocket Panel as a backup attitude indicator, upgraded the TruTrak autopilot (to get GPSS and vertical speed control with altitude pre-select), and replaced the attitude indicator with a Garmin G5 after having to attitude indicators die on us.
N97BM was built by Bill Mason in Arizona back in 1997. We purchased it from its second owner.
